About Me:- My name is Janet Peel, and I have had dogs,
horses, cats and a variety of other animals for as long as I can remember! At present
we have two huge Labradoodles, Fozzie and Dylan, and four unruly cats! My husband
Michael and I are part time dog trainers at Hillheads Dog Club, Whitley Bay. The
club follows the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and APDT guidelines, and recently
won the Kennel Club national award for Best Listed Status Club 2010. Our own dogs
are trained to Gold standard and we are constantly looking for challenging activities
to keep them stimulated! Their favourite game at the moment is Hide the Frog, where
they gallop madly around the house searching for a stuffed toy! Other than my dog
training experience, I have a Diploma in Canine Psychology and recently achieved
a Diploma in Professional Dog Walking. The course covered a number of separate units,
including canine first aid, canine law, canine body language and dealing with canine
aggression. I am Police Subject Access checked, and fully insured.
Our Walks:- Before I start to walk your dog, I
will make a home visit to meet you and your canine friend! I will collect basic
information, including vet details and any special requirements you may have. I
will come out on a short walk with you and your dog. From that point, I will walk
your dog alone until I have built up a relationship with him and assessed his temperament.
I will only let your dog off the lead with your consent, and when I am confident
that he will recall to me. I will then match up dogs of similar characters to go
on group walks in your area. Your dog will be collected from your home and taken
for a walk in your area for example, the Cramlington Nature Reserve, local woods
or beaches. Walks are either one hour or half an hour, depending on requirements.
Dogs will be walked in groups of no more than four, however, solo walks can be arranged
at a small extra cost. Your dog will be returned to your home, dried off, and fresh
water provided. Dogs will be transported in a specially adapted vehicle, providing
a comfortable, safe and secure trip. Any other requirements can be discussed on
an individual basis.
Our Other Services:- Other than our dog walking services, we
offer "Feed and Fuss" for cats when you are away. This involves a half hour visit
to feed, change litter, play and cuddle! We will also pop in to feed and water other
small animals. Our half hour puppy visits involve spending some quality time with
puppies that may need extra feeds, toilet breaks and play sessions during the day.
We also offer a "Just in Case" service which provides occasional emergency visits
for dogs, cats, horses, budgies, in fact, just about anything. This may be needed
due to hospital visits, late shifts, day trips away, weddings or other family occasions.
